Why Carmela Lustre Photography?
As a veteran elementary teacher with over twenty years of experience in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, I am very comfortable interacting with children. As more-recent substitute teacher, I have developed skills which allow me to build genuine rapport with my students extremely quickly.
These skills will be particularly useful when interacting with YOUR children!
Vintage Back-to-School Mini Sessions

What you get:
- a 15-minute session for your elementary-age children (TK through sixth-grade)
- up to 2 elementary-age children per 15-minute session
- 22-page inspirational Style Guide full of tips and images to take the stress out of choosing outfits, hairstyles, etc.!
- 10 professionally-edited, high-resolution JPEG images total, delivered within 7 days of the session date
- if you choose 2 siblings together, I will capture some images of each child independently, and some images of them interacting together (10 images total, not 10 images for each child)
FAQ
Where do these Back-to-School Photo Sessions Take Place?
This year (2026), they will take place at Murphy Ranch Park in Whittier, CA. You will also get a location guide with your booking that will give a few more details (about parking, etc.)
What should my children wear for their session?
I suggest vintage (50s-, 60s-, or 70s-style clothing. My Style Guide has many inspirational photos to give you a general idea. HOWEVER, a simple white, collared shirt and traditional-looking blue jeans with tennis shoes would work well, also!
How long does it take to get our photos?
You will get 3 "sneak-peek" photos within 24 hours of your session date, and the other 7 images within 7 days of the session date.
Do you offer albums or prints?
No, I do not, BUT I believe that Pixieset (the gallery website) has an option to professionally print photos straight from the gallery. In general, when I need photos, I usually upload them to a professional printing service like Staples, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc.
Instead of bringing a sibling, can a friend participate in the session?
No; for now, I am only scheduling siblings together.
